“Bad Bitches” ft. Stunnaman & Lil B - Star Slinger

I’m one of the only people I know who doesn’t jock Lil B (cue half of you closing the window), but I do love just about everything Starslinger touches. The track is killer, easily good enough to overcome my feelings on the word “bitch.” The production shines - it’s loud and busy, dominating center stage. Just listen. Does your head not bob? Does your body not groove, no matter your lack of rhythm? Can you not help but rap as the Pack members kill it (while glancing around to make sure no one’s watching)? Enjoy, and be sure to check Star Slinger’s tour dates, as he’s on the Hood Slung tour with The Hood Internet and Chrissy Murderbot. [link]

“The Fever (Aye Aye)” - Death Grips

So I was listening to the new new Death Grips tracks a while ago - “Blackjack,” “Get Got,” and “Lost Boys” - and one of my roommates walks in and asks, “Are you listening to Skrillex? This sounds exactly like Skrillex.” I still don’t know how to respond. I don’t understand. Help me to understand.

Anyways, another track off The Money Store has been released, accompanied by a typically a-typical video. Give it a look and a listen, and be sure to check out Death Grips’ debut on Epic when The Money Store comes out April 24th.

“Fuck Up The Fun” - Azealia Banks

Diplo strikes again! The renown producer is spotted here sprucing the always-fiery Azealia Banks with infectiously relentless snares that only serve as a vicious stage for Banks’ scathing tongue. It’s hard to believe that it was only January when she floored us with her work on Machinedrum’s newest (link), and now the intrepid spitfire has only managed to entice us further as we dream of what treasures the rapper’s debut Broke With Expensive Taste could hold. “Ya’ll bitches not fucking with me,” remarks Banks after throwing out some of her most dexterous material to date, and just like that her confidence becomes not only endearing, but self-evident.

Lost Boys” - Death Grips

The hype that’s going to build up for these two upcoming Death Grips albums via Epic (April 24th’s The Money Store and fall-slated No Love) is going to drive people nuts (I am fully aware that it is already at the point for some people and that I am absolutely contributing to that madness). This doesn’t have quite the headlong, strobing intensity of “Get Got” or the mind-beniding writhing of “Blackjack,” but the slower, just as electronically riotous beat and “lost boys” chant will have the cult-like following salivating as much as ever. “The Don” - Nas

“Although he’s on to another chapter, Heavy D gave this beat to Salaam for me to rap to.”

I actually like the primary subject for all the blurbs on this, so I hope you forgive me for aping them. This track comes to us courtesy of In Flex We Trust, produced by the late Heavy D (the “late” part lending extra weight to the track), the above-mentioned Salaam Remi, and Da Internz. It’s a single off his next album Life is Good, which, if you trust @ikipedia, is his last album with Def Jam. I don’t know about all that; I just know that this has me hyped for that album.

“The Grand Experiment” - Doomtree

The liberal rap collective Doomtree have come together once again to present fans with “The Grand Experiment,” the first taste of the upcoming release No Kings from the Minneapolis emcees. With its breakbeat instrumentation and a majority of the family of rhyming fiends sharing a lyrical piece, “The Grand Experiment” seems aimed continue the eclectic personality of the collaborative pieces from Doomtree. Fans of the track can download it for free [link], and find a pre-order for No Kings’ November 22nd release on the group’s webstore [link].

Maffew Ragazino - Rhyme Pays

Maffew Ragazino is a rapper. And a damn good one. His newest project Rhyme Pays was let go for free and it’s almost  a crime that we don’t get to pay for this fantastic album. With a biting flow and something of importance to say, Maffew really crafted something special. The production here is also top notch and I don’t see this falling off my playlist any time soon. Grab Rhyme Pays here. [Link]

“The G.O.A.T”- One Be Lo

There hasn’t been many rappers that have never put out bad material. One Be Lo however is someone that I have never heard a bad song from. He leaked this track himself from his upcoming record (September 6th) L.A.B.O.R. His style is unmatched and his lyrics….my God his lyrics.

“Looking Back (acoustic)” - CunninLynguists

Kentucky-based hip-hop trio CunninLynguists should need no introduction to any seasoned hip-hop listener, but if you haven’t been formally introduced to one of the finest hip-hop acts around, then listen to their acoustic take on “Looking Back.” The duo recently released their otherworldly 5th album, Oneirology, back on March 22nd. If you know what’s good for you you’ll go out and buy it.

Minnesota Nice” - Atmosphere ft. Prof, Felipe Cuauhtli, and Gene Poole

Minneapolis rap duo Atmosphere have released a free new track, a posse cut with the other artists on their Welcome to Minnesota Tour. An old school, west coast bounce powers the track and, unsurprisingly, Slug’s verse is the highlight. Check out the track, and if you’re lucky enough to be in the area, the shows as well.
