Three things I love are the music of Ron Gibbs, pineapple, and anything aqueous in music. All three of these things are present in the new Andrew de Freitas-directed RxGibbs video, so I would feel remiss not to share it here. I’ve already extolled my love for the relatively recent Cascine-released Futures EP, but I love it so much that revisiting it here is absolutely worth it. Go stream [link] or purchase [link] it now. RxGibbs has released a remix of Work Drugs’ “Rad Racer” [link], while also having the this very track remixed by The Whendays [link].

I present to you further proof that I am living in the wrong part of Michigan, because these incredible artists that share my state don’t seem to be anywhere near me. Ron Gibbs creates pieces of cool, phantasmal ambiance that are full and flowing, with a firm grip but a gentle touch (read as: these songs makes sweet love to your ears). The synth that courses through each track - whether over top of or underneath the percussive elements - is the primary force behind this, giving each track a feeling of consistency and connectivity that last throughout the Futures EP. I should also mention that the infusion of ephemeral female vocals throughout is just flawless. I can’t thank Cascine, who are releasing the EP digitally on February 21st, enough for catching my transient ears long enough to heed this. [link]
