Silver” - RxGibbs

Three things I love are the music of Ron Gibbs, pineapple, and anything aqueous in music. All three of these things are present in the new Andrew de Freitas-directed RxGibbs video, so I would feel remiss not to share it here. I’ve already extolled my love for the relatively recent Cascine-released Futures EPbut I love it so much that revisiting it here is absolutely worth it. Go stream [link] or purchase [link] it now. RxGibbs has released a remix of Work Drugs’ “Rad Racer” [link], while also having the this very track remixed by The Whendays [link].

“Night Heat” - Selebrities

I’ve flashed the ability to gush about an artist on Cascine’s roster before , so fair warning: you may experience a bit of déjà vu here (Denzel Washington not included). Taken off the Night Heat 7” (March 20th), the almost sensual allure of the track become even more overt upon learning that Selebrities played the song at Beauty and the Beats. The guitar echoing through the haze and dripping water - an effect I am an admitted sucker for - is especially sublime.

Futures” - RxGibbs

I present to you further proof that I am living in the wrong part of Michigan, because these incredible artists that share my state don’t seem to be anywhere near me. Ron Gibbs creates pieces of cool, phantasmal ambiance that are full and flowing, with a firm grip but a gentle touch (read as: these songs makes sweet love to your ears). The synth that courses through each track - whether over top of or underneath the percussive elements - is the primary force behind this, giving each track a feeling of consistency and connectivity that last throughout the Futures EP. I should also mention that the infusion of ephemeral female vocals throughout is just flawless. I can’t thank Cascine, who are releasing the EP digitally on February 21st, enough for catching my transient ears long enough to heed this. [link

“Tomorrow Night We’ll Go Anywhere” - Evan Voytas

If I were to bring up a name like Jamie Harley (because those are the sort of namedrops I use to validate my mostly meaningless hipster status), I’d probably receive a couple confused looks. Now, if someone were to bring up Mr. Jamie Hartley’s name to me, I’d instantly be reminded of beautiful collages of found footage, vintage films, and home video set to accompany a fine, often heartbreaking, musical background.

This video for Evan Voytas’ intimately catchy “Tomorrow Night We’ll Go Anywhere” is the first new Jamie Harley directed release of the new year. It sees the man stepping away from old themes to explore new, vicious territory. Oh, and the video features Kate Moss doing shit against a wall.

Sparks” - World Tour

The moment I have trouble articulating my thoughts on a track is when it becomes immediately clear that I’m in love. World Tour has crafted one of the single most catchiest tracks I’ve heard for quite a while in “Sparks” and as Cascine’s latest label singing I shouldn’t expect anything less. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be keeping this on repeat for a while. Above you can watch the fantastic video for the single.

Tomorrow Night We’ll Go Anywhere” - Evan Voytas

The latest track to totally dominate my online listening habits has been the single from Evan Voytas’ first physical release, Tomorrow Night We’ll Go Anywhere.  If you’re a closet disco junkie, or just like to bust a move then this is an album that should pique your interest.  Evan’s insistent susseration and 80’s dance club-esque instrumentation makes for a highly addictive experience.  As if these nostalgia-laden descriptors weren’t enough to grab your immediate attention, Evan has been known to play in the backing bands of Flying Lotus and Gonjasufi as well.  Either way, be sure to check out Tomorrow Night We’ll Go Anywhere when it drops Oct. 18th via Cascine.
