“Fall Creek Boys Choir” - James Blake & Bon Iver
Is it to anyone’s surprise that Justin Vernon has once again found himself involved with another phenomenal project? The prolific and widespread talents of Vernon and the brand Bon Iver have inevitably come together with the face of one James Blake. Considering the success of Blake’s eponymous full-length this year, and the inevitable critical waves that Bon Iver’s self-titled (coincidence?) ended up making, the collaboration sounds and feels as natural as it is successful at combining the two individually auspicious styles. Fear not, those of you who might worry that Blake and Bon Iver would choose to craft something entirely out of their expertise—though one would find discovering something out of the expertise of Justin Vernon extraordinarily difficult—the two artists blend their respective projects seamlessly. Be sure to look for the song next Monday on iTunes, and keep a watchful eye for “Enough Thunder,” presumably the title of a new song that is to be released sometime in October.
