“Burning Doe” - Cloud Rat
A three piece devil from Michigan, Cloud Rat maximizes each members’ efforts in creating brain-frying, break-neck grindcore. On their upcoming split with Republic of Dreams, they manage to show a number of faces in a short amount of time, including moments like the more mid-tempo and melodious (but still having that yank-you-in-by-the-ear trait) intro to “Burning Doe,” the anarchy of “Parachute,” and tense, writhing undercurrent and appropriately climactic finale of “Astronomy. It’s a manic maelstrom with rare, sudden lulls of something that resembles a certain beauty - and the vocals are simplyfierce. Cloud Rat has made their side of the split available for free [link], with the split being released quite soon via IFB Records, React With Protest,Moment of Collapse, and Fifty Year Storm Records.
