Other News of Note

Late post because I got out of work and then slept for six hours. Apparently I missed some game.

The new Air album is only a few days away, but why wait if you don’t have to? Perhaps you’ve stumbled across it already, but if you haven’t, go take a listen to Le Voyage Dans Le Lune on NPR. [link]

Maybe you’ve already heard, but Bon Iver won’t sacrifice their art for a Grammy performance and Drake’s ex wants money for “Marvin’s Room.”

Lemuria have released a video for “Wise People,” off their 2011 Bridge Nine debut album Pebble. It’s one of those silly “‘like’ the page to watch the video!” setups, but I mean… I guess it really isn’t that hard to like press ‘like.’ [link]

M.I.A. ’s new video for “Bad Girls” is so bad in all the right ways. [link]

I’m not sure I’d say the new Miike Snow video for “Paddling Out” has made me more excited for the new album, but it definitely has a certain… intrigue. I’m not I need much more convincing to check out Happy To You on March 27th, though. [link]

A Place to Bury Strangers has a new EP, Onwards to the Wall, out February 7th via Dead Oceans, streaming now. [link]

Porcelain Raft made a video for “Unless You Speak From Your Heart.” Keep it old-school. Keep it classy. [link]

Now you can play one of the best albums of 2009 yourself. Sheet Happens have released the complete guitar and bass tab book for Propagandhi’s Supporting Caste - 190 pages of instructive excellence. Let me casually remind you that there is no such thing as a birthday present given to early. [link]

Royal Baths will be releasing their new album Better Luck Next Life on February 7th via Kanine Records. The fittingly cryptic, lo-fi video for the psychedelic blues of “Black Sheep” premiered on Pitchfork [link], where the tracks “Faster, Harder” [link] and “Darling Divine [link] can also be streamed. The group has also announced East Coast Tour Dates in support of the album. [link]

Shabazz Palaces, who released one of my favorite albums of 2011 in Black Up, have released a video for “Are You… Can You… Were You? (Felt).” Have we talked about how great their song titles are [link]? Shabazz is also heading out on tour in February. [link]
