“In the Same Room” - Julia Holter

I’ve raved about Julia Holter here numerous times before, and it’s a safe bet that I’ll continue to do so with pride. After hearing the first single, “Marienbad” [link], and now  ”In the Same Room,” Holter’s Ekstasis has easily maintained its position on my “most anticipated” list. “In the Same Room” maintains the sweet air of bygone years paired with lovely, layered melodies while also showing off new ideas and directions that Holter is pursuing. Here, for example, is a melody that flows more smoothly than on most of the tracks on Tragedy. It’s at least as beautiful as all of her other work, and you would be hurting only yourself by not turning your ears to it. Ekstasis will be out March 8th on RVNG Intl.
