“Simple Song” - The Shins

If you happen to be a part of The Shins’ mailing list, you’ve received a pleasant surprise in the form of a first taste of their upcoming album Port of Morrow, their first one in over five years. Despite the hiatus and the reconstructed band surrounding James Mercer, I’m happy to say it still sounds much like the same band. With Mercer maintaining production credits and doing much of the songwriting, the leap from Wincing the Night Away isn’t that far. It’s like seeing an old friend again; you just pick up right where you left off. Port of Morrow will be released on March 20th [link] via Columbia and Mercer’s own label, Aural Apothecary.
