Bright Eyes Album Stream
Possibly because of it’s early leak, Bright Eyes have made their new album, The People’s Key, available to stream in full in advance of its February 15 release. I haven’t listened to Bright Eyes in ages, but the good reception this album has received has me intrigued.
You can stream the new album here.

A Fresh NSB
After spending a good amount of time looking for the right person to completely redesign our webpage, I settled on choosing Georgia Harris. The young Glasgow-based web designer had throughly impressed me with her beautiful, oft, minimalistic tumblr themes so I figured she would be the best fit for giving NSB a completely new look. Turns out Ms. Harris was the wisest choice I could’ve made...

Tape Deck Mountain - Secret Serf
Review: Jacob Booth [1/19/11]
The reverb-laden spaces are a staple sound for a huge amount of bands. Unfortunately, they often turn out to be a lazy mask for shoddy songwriting. I regularly find myself initially drawn in to the palatable soundscape only to find that, after multiple listens, the song is a bad one. Thankfully I’ve located no such problem with Secret Serf. In...

End of a Year Release 7"
End of a Year (lead singer Patrick Kindlon was kind enough to talk with us a while back) have released yet another 7”, this one entitled More Songs About Transportation and Intercourse. It is an homage to their influences, namely the Talking Heads (note the “Wild Wild Life” cover and the artwork similarities). It’s available here, through Hex Records, and it’s a...

Nothing Sounds Better Compilation
Attention unsigned bands (and maybe some bands signed to smaller labels)! I have thrown around the idea of a Nothing Sounds Better compilation album for some time now and guess what? That time has come! If you are in a band that wants to participate to get your music heard, if you have friends in bands that you think deserve some exposure, or if you just want to spam the hell out of my inbox then...

Deerhoof - Deerhoof Vs. Evil
Review: Tyler Hanan [1/18/11]
Deerhoof vs. Evil. An intriguing album name, and a fitting one. Deerhoof return with their art-pop style that is unique to itself, and further, unique to each album. To name and describe the many intricacies and layers would take a small novel. Deerhoof has always been able to keep all their jumbles of discordant noise tight and controlled, fashioning...

“All We Grow” - S. Carey
A little late on posting this, but a few days ago S. Carey released his first official music video for “In The Dirt”. S. Carey is the drummer of Bon Iver and released his first full length, All We Grow, last year. If I wouldn’t have rushed through making my best-of 2010 list, this release surely would’ve been on it (read my...

Casey Sullivan - For the Birds
Review: Chris Cleary [1/17/11]
Everyone is always looking for the next big thing. There are of course plenty of variables that make future fame and success hard to predict, but if the primary criterion is talent, Casey Sullivan, a gifted young singer-songwriter, has a blindingly bright future ahead of her. The 19-year-old Sullivan’s self-released debut album, For the Birds, is a...

Farewell Fighter - The Way We Learn EP
Review: Kyle Pedersen [12/14/10]
I don’t think I will ever grow up in a traditional sense. Even if I was wearing a suit and tie and working at a law firm I would not give up A) My sense of humor that tends to be quite crude B) my music whether it be pop-punk, pop, rap or variations of rock and then C) I wouldn’t give up the feeling of nostalgia. Looking back at my youth while...

Arrange - Quiet State
I like to think of us here at Nothing Sounds Better as a little family that has come a long way. We are dysfunctional at times but we make it work as we all do our best (and stay really attractive in the process.) With that being said the reason behind a lot of our success is one Malcom Lacey, who as I have posted about before, plays music under the moniker Arrange. And I will always promote my...

“Sparks” - World Tour
The moment I have trouble articulating my thoughts on a track is when it becomes immediately clear that I’m in love. World Tour has crafted one of the single most catchiest tracks I’ve heard for quite a while in “Sparks” and as Cascine’s latest label singing I shouldn’t expect anything less. Don’t mind me, I’ll just...
